This is a short experimental horror prototype developed as part of a bachelor's thesis exploring how immersion and tension can be created in horror games with minimal gameplay mechanics.

Playtest & Survey

After playing, I would greatly appreciate it if you could complete a short anonymous survey about your experience. The survey takes approximately 5–7 minutes and the responses will be used for the evaluation section of my bachelor's thesis.

The stutter made this unplayable. The horizontal camera stuttering happened in Firefox, Brave, and Chrome.

Beyond the stutter, having an intro that is around 3 minutes long, is unskippable, and plays after you die, is something you should reconsider. Everything you said could be consolidated in about 10 seconds, or with some visual cues in the scenem without any voice over needed.

Thank you for trying it out, if I may ask- did you also try to refresh your browser after starting the game? While it's definitely an issue I have to solve in the future, that seemed to help others who played the game!

And about the intro, I fully agree, the intro is quite long but it's also a part of this specific experiment for my thesis so it's intentional- but- I did add a feature that shows up once you've died the first time, you may skip the instructions with the Key that's showing in the Game Over Scene! :)

Encountered the following bugs/issues:

Browser:

-  slight but constant strafing to the left

- stuttering camera

Download:

- automatically walking forward

- stuttering camera

- pressing buttons doesn't open doors

I'm not sure the door thing is a bug, maybe I had to wait for the explanation/introduction to end; which I think is too long if you have nothing to do while listening to it. It's also a bit too quiet at times with the background hum.

What I like of the things I actually experienced is the sound design. The electrical hum adds to the atmosphere, and the sound when you press a button is very satisfying. I also think the instruction monologue is pretty well delivered, although the script is a bit stilted and awkward.

I really wish I could give better, more elaborate feedback, but unfortunately the game just really didn't work for me! Like, technologically, not emotionally, haha.  Best of luck!

Thank you very much for playing & giving feedback :]

To anyone else experiencing similar issues while playing, please try a different browser then Mozilla Firefox until the problem is found & fixed! :)
